The NEC is a highly regarded handbook resource and considered the most comprehensive document on electrical safety. The NEC was developed by a large cross section of representatives from the electrical industry (electricians, engineers, code enforcers, researchers, testers, insurers, etc.). The NEC explains current code requirements and discusses pertinent code changes. Specific technical language is contained in the handbook with complete information on: • Code Requirements and Application • Code Intent • Code Restrictions • Code Interpretations In addition, historical trends are examined, and tables and illustrations are provided. The NEC is divided into sections, containing articles on specific electrical subject areas. Community code for installations are usually based on information or requirements in the NEC. For convenience, the Genesis catalog has identified pertinent NEC articles and scope of article for each cable group as well as provided useful information to help with ordering appropriate cable.
